I am a generalist rather than a specialist. I realize this
does not comply with the current flavor-of-the-day
trend that says "specialization is everything" .
I have been and electrical contractor, a building
project manager, and IT project manager and a
software designer. I have delivered projects for IBM
and for global management consulting firms. I have a
good understanding of; business management
systems and practices, electrical systems, telephone
systems, IP, computer networks, building construction
and most of all what it takes to get people to work
together and get the job done.
I understand the language and customs of many
disciplines and work environments. I can
communicate with trades-people and CEOs, and you
don't have to get a "specialist" in every time you cross
the boundary between one group and another. If I am
about to get in over my head, I will get the expert
knowledge when it is needed. My experience covers
projects at 9,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains, the
oceans of Nova Scotia, to the fast paced and
professional business environment of New York City.
I have spent over 30 years creating and managing
successful businesses in the US and Canada.
I have spent thousands of hours attending targeted
workshops and training programs to build
understanding and skills in the principles and
practices that lead to organisational success.
I have also spent thousands of hours studying and
practicing under some of the great spiritual leaders of
our time developing moral and ethical standards of
conduct.
