A well designed structure will endure and it will serve the purpose it was designed to serve. A well designed business structure only comes from the same clarity of purpose and planning that brings about a durable building, bridge or other physical structure. How well the plan is executed is also going to determine the quality of the results. |
|
| "Strategic Planning" is often neither strategic nor planning. Very often efforts labled strategic planning are simply problem solving exercises reacting to current circumstance. |
While problems will arise and need to be solved, unless the underlying cuases of recuring problems is discovered and rectified you will probably find yourself fixing problems instead of moving forward. The best resultes come out of a creative or pro-active stance, rather than from reacting to current threats and crisis. |
People and Structures: People build structures to serve their aspirations and needs. The structure may be a road, a building, a musical score, a constitution, shareholders agreement or reporting structure. the point is of course to design and implement a structure that focuses, supports, reinforces or guides our way to the result we want to achieve. A road smooths the way and helps avoid collisions if it systematizes and guides the direction of traffic so we have consistency of movement instead of head-on collisions. A reporting structure, constitution or the way a businesses is organized provides similar benefits... If it is designed correctly.
If you find that your organization or project is taking two steps forward and three steps back, maybe I can help. Calling on over 30 years of successful business experience and a primarily a methodology codified by Robert Fritz I can help you quickly uncover the essential elements of any endeavor, help you focus on what is most important and establish clear milestones and priorities that will align your goals and resources for success. * Everything gets done by people. * People are bound by the systems, structures, and beliefs they operate within. Their ability to communicate effectively with each other is highly dependent on these factors * Appropriate systems and structures can galvanize and focus the power of people. Poorly structured systems, competing agendas, obsolete procedures and similar factors will demoralize people, setup unwanted competition and generally cause disorder and lack of performance. * Even where the structure and culture is supportive, because of beliefs, prejudices, and differing world views, people can have conflict with each other. * People with a clearly defined shared objective can accomplish extraordinary things. People with fuzzy goals, or even working at cross purposes, often go in circles with great stress, unnecessary costs and frustration. We can bring to bear strategies and techniques that have proven to be very effective in clarifying objectives and aligning people and resources to accomplish results. As trained and certified mediators we can often help individuals and groups reach productive resolution. Often breaking down barriers to effective communication alone can show significant improvements. Because these efforts are applied by an impartial "third party" we can often deliver results that are simply impossible to obtain from within an organization acting for itself.
